Tensions between India and Pakistan are running high after the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. In the middle of this, a video has surfaced online that is grabbing a lot of attention on social media. The clip shows a protest happening outside the White House in US. A group of people can be seen protesting and the text on the video reads, “Kashmir Protest at White House.”
In the clip, a news reporter approaches one of the protesters. What she says next has left people both shocked and amused. The reporter says, “Modi is killing innocent terrorists.” The statement is confusing and contradictory, especially since those who carry out violent attacks and spread fear are called terrorists. By definition, terrorism involves creating terror and that can never be innocent.
This one line has become the main talking point of the video and social media users can’t stop reacting to it. While the clip has already crossed over four lakh views, News18 could not verify its authenticity. Some users online claimed the video is “very old,” while others pointed out that “two morphed versions of it are in circulation.”
Despite the doubts around the video, the phrase “innocent terrorists” was enough to set off a wave of reactions online. People shared funny comments and memes in response to the bizarre line.
One user humorously wrote, “Terrorist lives matters!!!”
Another said, “They never fail to astound me with their stupidity.”
“”Innocent” and “Terrorists” in the same sentence is hilarious,” a person said while another shared, “Terrorist innocent bhi hote hain?? Baap re!! Paheli bar suna (Even terrorists are innocent? O God! Heard this for the very first time).”
An individual jokingly said, “Innocent terrorists = Bench waale terrorists who got training but didn’t get the project.”
Someone said, “She’s roasting her own country,” while another said, “Innocent bhi and terrorist bhi. Aawwww.”
India has taken strong military action following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists. In response, the country launched a mission called Operation Sindoor. As part of this operation, India carried out targeted missile strikes early Wednesday morning on several terror camps located in Pakistan and areas under Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These camps were known to be linked to terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Soon after this, Pakistan responded with heavy shelling. It targeted forward areas near the Line of Control in regions such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri and Akhnoor. 13 people, including four children and a soldier, were killed in the intense artillery and mortar shelling.
On the other hand, India’s Air Force defended against drone and missile attacks from Pakistan. These attacks were aimed at military bases in states like Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Punjab. But thanks to India’s strong air defence system, most of the attacks were stopped in time.
