Moved By Delhi Auto Driver’s Kindness, Foreign Tourist Offers Him Rs 2,000

A video of a foreign tourist’s encounter with an auto driver in Delhi has surfaced online. The woman, who was in the national capital, was surprised by the auto driver’s kind gesture. The now-viral clip opens to the woman sitting in the three wheeler. She then tells the driver, “I need change for the fare.” The driver instantly replies in Hindi, “Koi baat nahi, jaaiye aap [Don’t worry. It’s okay]/” Then, in an attempt to reassure her, he speaks in English, “Don’t worry.”
The woman, surprised and moved by his response, asks, “Are you sure?” Just then, a bystander overhears the conversation and intervenes, saying, “Yes, ma’am.”
The woman then requests the man to interpret her message to the auto driver, stating that she was profoundly touched by the driver’s kindness and honesty. She insisted on giving him Rs 2,000.
“That’s very, very kind of him. I wanna do something nice for him. I’m gonna give him something for his kindness,” she says.
As the man translates her statement, the auto driver appears humbled. She adds, “May your family be blessed.” To this, the driver tells her that he has four children.

The video, posted on April 15, has received over 2.5 million views. Many have recognised the depth of the relationship and how such tiny actions can have a significant impact.
